Onserts Help Marketers Communicate Big Messages with a Smaller Footprint

Articles / By PrintFlex Graphics

Onserts image 2If your company produces products for retail sale, we don’t have to tell you how important product labels are. They’re your instore mouthpiece to communicate with customers, they can be used to stand out from the competition, and they inform the image consumers have in their mind when they think of your product promotion. But what if your company has a need to communicate a lot of information with customers on the package?

An onsert is the solution when multiple offers are needed for a trade promotion, a problem many of our customers turn to PrintFlex to solve!

What are Onserts?

Onserts are folded, extended content booklets that adhere to a package. They are similar to IRCs, which adhere directly to a package. The difference is that IRCs are dry-release single panels whereas an onsert has multiple panels. Panels can be separated to promote your product or cross promote too.

Pros and Cons of Using Onserts

As with any promotional product, there are pros and cons to using onserts. The PrintFlex team listens closely to what our customer needs to accomplish and recommends onserts when they are simply the best option. There are a lot of variables to consider. Here are some examples of the pros and cons we weigh when deciding whether or not to recommend onserts to a customer:

Pros:

  • Onserts serve a very specific purpose. When you have more to communicate than you have space to communicate, an onsert can save the day.
  • When the volume is large enough, onserts can be much more produced more quickly than dry release products.

Cons:

  • Setup for an onsert printing project can be more complex and lead to longer manufacturing times.
  • Onserts are more expensive to produce because of the size is larger and folded vs. a single panel dry release IRC.
